This versatile piece from Windlass SteelCrafts’ Cobra Steel line of modern revamps is a contemporary interpretation of the ancient Greek style kopis sword. Traditionally in greece kopides (plural for kopis) were much larger around 35-40” though later on some macedonian pieces were shortened to about 28-34”. While bearing resemblance to both the celtic/germanic falcata and the asian kukri knife, the kopis outdates both by thousands of years. the shape shared by all of these weapons allows for highly improved chopping power, rivaling that of axes while still maintaining the ability to thrust and versatility of a full length blade. Often Greek hoplites would use the original kopides on horseback as a cavalry weapon for the higher impact capacity of the blade and the advantage of the concave construction.
this modern interpretation is forged of 1095 carbon steel (unlike the originals which would have been made from bronze and sometimes iron) giving it an incredibly high durability, which make it an ideal all purpose blade for hiking camping and self-defense. The riveted leather sheath is also highly durable and provides great protection for your blade. The full tang rubber grip allows for a dependable sturdy grip that is almost guaranteed not to fail. All and all a blade like this will last you a life time even with minimal care and for the price you really cant ask for a better deal.
